Role
Amazon’s Bee team is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer (Android) to build Android and React Native mobile experiences that integrate ambient personal AI. The role focuses on rapid prototyping, shipping robust features, and collaborating closely with product, design, and ML teams to deliver simple, scalable user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and ship mobile app features, user flows, and UI components integrating ambient AI capabilities.
- Partner with product, design, and AI teams to create robust, maintainable features.
- Drive improvements in code quality, maintainability, and app performance.
- Mentor peers and elevate mobile development standards.
- Prototype new ideas and iterate quickly based on user feedback.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
- 4+ years programming experience with at least one programming language.
- 4+ years leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Experience shipping high-quality apps to the Google Play Store.
- Experience programming with TypeScript and Kotlin.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Experience building AI-first products and integrating AI models.
- Experience working with BLE peripherals.
Team and Working Style
The team is compact and high-velocity, emphasizing ownership, data-driven decisions, cross-team collaboration (audio ML, backend, mobile), and rapid iteration. Expect hands-on work, experimentation, and frequent collaboration across disciplines.
Compensation
Base salary range: 193,300 - 261,500 USD annually. Total compensation may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs) and will vary by experience and location.
