Workday Adaptive Planning is hiring a Senior AI/ML Engineer to design and build production-grade, agentic AI workflows that improve enterprise financial planning. You will apply AI-first thinking to embed intelligent, scalable, and secure agentic capabilities into core planning features used by thousands of enterprises.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership in the design and development of AI agents that reason, learn, and interact across complex business processes.
- Integrate secure, scalable, and reliable agentic capabilities into Adaptive Planning features.
- Own projects end-to-end: problem framing, data preparation, design and development, deployment, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- Leverage large enterprise planning datasets to tune and optimize models for high-value outcomes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers and product managers to deliver product-focused solutions.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers; conduct code reviews and remove technical blockers.
- Emphasize test automation, performance engineering, and delivering high-quality software.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years experience on a data science, machine learning, or related software development team.
- 3+ years experience with Python supporting ML/AI libraries and shipping secure production solutions.
- 8+ years experience in object-oriented programming with Java.
- 8+ years experience in SaaS software development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field (MS/PhD highly desired).
Additional / Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with large language models (LLMs), retrieval augmented generation (RAG), semantic search, and text embedding models.
- Experience with transformer neural networks and related frameworks.
- Familiarity with vibe coding, MCP, and LangGraph.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP), containerization (e.g., Docker), and data engineering pipelines/ETL.
- Proven experience developing and deploying ML solutions at scale, including model design, data collection/labeling, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Strong product mindset, ability to balance speed with delivering robust, practical solutions, and a focus on test automation and performance.
