Role
Senior UX Designer on the Applied AI Solutions Healthcare & Life Sciences team. Lead the strategy and design of AI-native product experiences and define AI agent behavior, personas, and behavioral contracts for scientific and clinical workflows. Collaborate with designers, engineers, product managers, and scientists to create transparent, trustworthy AI-assisted tools that support decision-making in regulated healthcare and life sciences contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design initiatives focused on AI agent behavior, defining agent roles, responsibilities, boundaries, escalation, citation, and confidence communication.
- Craft and validate long-term design strategies through customer research, prototyping, and proposals targeted to scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals.
- Design for multiple personas (bench scientists, computational biologists, clinicians) and handle both happy paths and edge/high-risk cases.
- Ensure AI-assisted experiences provide literature-based reasoning, citations, and guidance without supplanting professional judgment.
- Conduct ethnographic studies and user research to understand workflows, collaboration patterns, and trust requirements.
- Create functional prototypes (including vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping tools) to demonstrate complex scientific workflows and translate prototypes into production-ready specs.
- Leverage and extend existing design systems (Trans Am, with future transition to RAD) and design scientific visualizations and domain-specific patterns.
- Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and science teams to maintain alignment and feature tracking.
Requirements
- 8+ years of design experience.
- Available online portfolio showcasing past work.
- Experience with design tools and visual design (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and prototyping skills in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying Scrum to visual or UX design processes.
- Experience designing complex workflows for specialized professional users.
