Role
Senior UX Designer on the Applied AI Solutions Healthcare & Life Sciences team focused on designing AI-native experiences for scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals. The role leads strategy and design direction for agentic AI products, defining AI agent behavior, constraints, and validation practices to support scientific discovery and clinical workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design initiatives to define and validate AI agent personas, behavioral contracts, escalation behavior, citation and confidence requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX researchers, engineers, and scientists to identify opportunities, resolve product strategy gaps, and design interoperable product experiences.
- Craft long-term design strategies through customer research, prototyping, and proposals that advocate for scientific and clinical user needs.
- Design for multiple personas (bench scientists, computational biologists, clinicians) and address happy paths, edge cases, error states, and high-risk scenarios.
- Ensure AI-assisted experiences remain transparent, trustworthy, and grounded in scientific rigor and regulatory requirements; design systems that cite sources and explain reasoning.
- Accelerate delivery through vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping, creating functional prototypes that demonstrate complex scientific workflows.
- Partner with engineering and science teams to translate prototypes into production-ready specifications and maintain alignment through regular syncs and feature tracking.
Tools & Design Systems
- Leverage existing design systems (Trans Am) with planned transition to RAD.
- Use prototyping and design tools and technologies noted in the role to create functional demonstrations of workflows.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of design experience.
- Available online portfolio.
- Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Ajax.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying Scrum to visual or UX design processes.
- Experience designing UX for complex workflows.
Domain & Constraints
- Work emphasizes scientific accuracy, citation, explainability, and appropriate confidence levels for AI outputs.
- Design must consider regulatory compliance and high trust requirements typical in healthcare and life sciences.
Team Focus
- Build AI-assisted experiences that support the design-build-test-learn (DBTL) cycle in drug discovery and enable clinicians to act on actionable insights, while preserving professional judgment.
