Role
Senior UX Designer on the Applied AI Solutions Healthcare & Life Sciences team. Lead design strategy and execution for AI-native product experiences that serve scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals, with a focus on defining and validating agent behavior, trust, and scientific rigor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design initiatives to define AI agent personas, behavioral contracts, boundaries, escalation behavior, and confidence communications.
- Craft and validate long-term design strategies via customer research, prototyping, and proposals that advocate for scientific and clinical user needs.
- Create prototypes and functional demonstrations of complex scientific workflows using vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping tools.
- Design for multiple user personas (bench scientists, computational biologists, clinicians), happy-path and edge cases, and high-risk situations that could affect scientific integrity.
- Ensure AI-assisted experiences are transparent, trustworthy, cite sources, explain reasoning, and support—not replace—professional judgment.
- Leverage and extend existing design systems (Trans Am, transitioning to RAD) and create domain-specific patterns and scientific visualizations.
- Conduct ethnographic and user research, partner with engineering and science teams to translate prototypes into production-ready specifications, and maintain alignment through documentation and regular syncs.
Requirements
- 8+ years of design experience.
- Available online portfolio demonstrating relevant work.
- Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Experience prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Ajax.
- Preferred: experience applying Scrum to visual/UX design processes and UX design of complex workflows.
