Role
Senior UX Designer on the Applied AI Solutions Healthcare & Life Sciences team focused on shaping AI-native product experiences for scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals. The role leads design initiatives that define AI agent behavior as a core UX artifact and ensures AI-assisted experiences are transparent, trustworthy, and grounded in scientific and regulatory rigor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design strategy and validate long-term designs through customer research, prototyping, and design proposals.
- Define AI agent personas, behavioral contracts, escalation behavior, citation and confidence requirements.
- Design experiences for multiple personas (bench scientists, computational biologists, clinicians) including happy paths, edge cases, error states, and high-risk scenarios.
- Ensure AI agents assist with guidance, literature-based reasoning, and synthesis without replacing professional judgment.
- Conduct ethnographic studies and user research to understand workflows, collaboration patterns, and trust requirements.
- Create functional prototypes (including vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping) to demonstrate complex scientific workflows and partner with engineering and science teams to translate prototypes to production-ready specifications.
- Leverage and extend existing design systems (Trans Am with transition to RAD) and innovate domain-specific visualizations and terminology.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of design experience.
- Available online portfolio.
- Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying Scrum to visual or UX design processes.
- Experience designing complex workflows.
