Role
Senior UX Designer on the Healthcare and Life Sciences team within Amazonβs Applied AI Solutions org. Design AI-native experiences and define AI agent behavior for products that serve scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design initiatives that define, constrain, and validate AI agent behavior as a core UX artifact.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX researchers, scientists, and engineers to explore and create solutions that accelerate scientific discovery and improve patient care.
- Conduct customer research and ethnographic studies to craft and validate long-term design strategies.
- Create prototypes and functional demonstrations of complex scientific workflows using vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping tools.
- Define AI agent personas, behavioral contracts, citation and explanation requirements, and escalation behavior suited for high-trust scientific and clinical contexts.
- Design for multiple user personas (bench scientists, computational biologists, clinicians) and handle happy-path, edge cases, and high-risk scenarios.
- Leverage and extend design systems (Trans Am with transition to RAD) and develop domain-specific patterns and scientific visualizations.
- Partner with engineering and science teams to translate prototypes into production-ready specifications and maintain alignment through documentation and regular syncs.
Requirements
- 8+ years of design experience.
- Available online portfolio.
- Experience with design tools and prototyping technologies including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Ajax.
- Experience designing complex workflows and ensuring systems remain transparent, trustworthy, and grounded in user needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying Scrum to visual or UX design processes.
- Experience with UX design of complex workflows and domain-specific scientific applications.

Compensation & Locations
Base salary ranges provided in the posting (annual):
- Sunnyvale, CA: 156400.00 - 211600.00 USD
- New York, NY: 155400.00 - 210300.00 USD
- Seattle, WA: 137800.00 - 186400.00 USD
Additional components include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
