Role
Amazon Applied AI Solutions (AAIS) seeks a Senior UX Designer to shape AI-native product experiences for healthcare and life sciences users. The role focuses on designing, constraining, and validating AI agent behavior for tools used by scientists, computational biologists, clinicians, and healthcare administrators, ensuring transparency, trust, and regulatory alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design initiatives that define AI agent personas, behavioral contracts, escalation paths, and confidence/citation requirements.
- Conduct customer research and ethnographic studies with scientists and clinicians to surface workflows, trust requirements, and edge cases.
- Create and validate long-term design strategies through prototyping, proposal documents, and usability validation.
- Design experiences across multiple personas and technical skill levels, addressing happy paths and high-risk error states.
- Build functional prototypes and accelerate delivery using vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping tools; translate prototypes into production-ready specifications.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, UX researchers, engineers, and scientists to align strategy, features, and implementation.
- Leverage and extend existing design systems while innovating domain-specific patterns and scientific visualizations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of design experience.
- Available online portfolio demonstrating relevant work.
- Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and prototyping using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Ajax.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying Scrum to visual or UX design processes.
