Role
Senior UX Designer on the Applied AI Solutions Healthcare & Life Sciences team responsible for shaping AI-native product experiences for scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals. The role focuses on strategy, design, and validation of AI agent behavior and on delivering prototypes and specifications that maintain scientific rigor, trust, and regulatory awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design initiatives to define and constrain AI agent behavior (personas, behavioral contracts, escalation rules, citation and confidence requirements).
- Craft and validate long-term design strategies through customer research, prototyping, and proposal documentation.
- Create functional prototypes that demonstrate complex scientific workflows and accelerate delivery via vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping tools.
- Design for multiple personas across varying technical expertise (bench scientists, computational biologists, clinicians) including happy paths, edge cases, error states, and high-risk situations.
- Ensure AI-assisted experiences are transparent, trustworthy, grounded in human needs, and support professional judgment rather than replace it.
- Conduct ethnographic studies and user research to understand workflows, collaboration patterns, and trust requirements.
- Partner with engineering and science teams to translate prototypes into production-ready specifications and maintain alignment via regular syncs and feature-tracking documentation.
- Leverage and extend existing design systems (Trans Am; planned transition to RAD) and create domain-specific patterns and scientific visualizations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of design experience.
- Available online portfolio.
- Experience with design tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
- Prototyping experience in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes.
- Experience designing complex workflows.
Team
Works cross-functionally with product managers, UX researchers, scientists, and engineers to build AI-assisted, scalable solutions for computational biologists, bench scientists, clinicians, and healthcare administrators.
Compensation & Benefits
- Location-specific base salary ranges listed (examples: Sunnyvale USD 156,400–211,600; New York USD 155,400–210,300; Seattle USD 137,800–186,400).
- Package may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
