Lead strategy, research, prototyping (including vibe coding and AI-assisted tools), and cross-functional work to ensure transparent, trustworthy, and regulatory-aware AI interactions.

Job Description

Role

Senior UX Designer on the AWS Applied AI Solutions (Healthcare & Life Sciences) team responsible for shaping AI-native product experiences for scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals. The role centers on designing, constraining, and validating agent behavior as a core UX artifact, ensuring AI-assisted experiences are transparent, trustworthy, and grounded in human and scientific needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design initiatives that define AI agent personas, behavioral contracts, escalation paths, and confidence boundaries with attention to scientific accuracy and citation requirements.
  • Conduct customer research (including ethnographic studies) and prototype workflows to validate long-term design strategies for scientific and clinical users.
  • Design for multiple personas across technical expertise levels and for both happy paths and high-risk edge cases.
  • Create prototypes and functional demonstrations of complex scientific workflows, accelerating delivery via vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping tools.
  • Leverage and extend existing design systems (Trans Am, migrating to RAD) and invent domain-specific patterns and scientific visualizations.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, UX researchers, engineers, and scientists to translate prototypes into production-ready specifications and maintain alignment through regular syncs and documentation.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of design experience.
  • Available online portfolio.
  • Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying Scrum to visual or UX design processes.
  • Experience designing complex workflows.

Environment and Focus

  • Work focuses on building AI-assisted, agentic experiences that support scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and high trust requirements in healthcare and life sciences.
  • Collaboration across design, engineering, product, and scientific teams at scale within AWS/Amazon environments.

  • Sunnyvale, CA: 156,400.00 - 211,600.00 USD annually
  • New York, NY: 155,400.00 - 210,300.00 USD annually
  • Seattle, WA: 137,800.00 - 186,400.00 USD annually
