Join Amazon’s Applied AI Solutions Healthcare & Life Sciences team as a Senior UX Designer to lead strategy and design for AI-native experiences that serve scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals. You will focus on designing, constraining, and validating AI agent behavior as a core UX artifact while ensuring transparency, trust, and regulatory awareness in scientific and clinical contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design initiatives defining AI agent personas, behavioral contracts, boundaries, and escalation behavior.
- Craft and validate long-term design strategies via customer research, prototyping, and proposal documentation.
- Design for multiple personas across technical expertise levels, addressing happy paths, edge cases, and high-risk scenarios.
- Ensure AI-assisted experiences cite sources, explain reasoning, and support professional judgment rather than replace it.
- Leverage and extend existing design systems (Trans Am, transitioning to RAD) and create domain-specific patterns and scientific visualizations.
- Accelerate delivery through vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping to produce functional prototypes of complex scientific workflows.
- Conduct ethnographic studies and user research with scientists and clinicians to understand workflows, collaboration patterns, and trust requirements.
- Partner with engineering and science teams to translate prototypes into production-ready specifications and maintain alignment through documentation and regular syncs.
Day-to-day
- Prototype complex scientific workflows and iterate based on research and stakeholder feedback.
- Define and document AI agent responsibilities, confidence thresholds, citation needs, and escalation paths.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, UX researchers, engineers, and scientists to drive design decisions and execution.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of design experience.
- Available online portfolio.
- Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Prototyping experience in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Ajax.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying Scrum/Agile methods to visual or UX design processes.
- Experience designing complex workflows, particularly for technical or regulated domains.
