Senior UX Designer for Amazon’s Applied AI Solutions Healthcare & Life Sciences team, responsible for defining and delivering AI-native product experiences for scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals. The role leads design strategy, AI agent behavior design, prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure trustworthy, transparent, and production-ready AI-assisted workflows.

Role
Senior UX Designer on the Applied AI Solutions Healthcare & Life Sciences team focused on designing AI-native product experiences for scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals. Lead design initiatives that define AI agent behavior, ensure scientific rigor and regulatory considerations, and produce prototypes and specifications that can be translated into production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design strategy and validate long-term approaches through user research, prototyping, and design proposals.
- Define AI agent personas and behavioral contracts that specify role, responsibilities, boundaries, escalation behavior, citation and confidence practices.
- Design multi-persona experiences spanning bench scientists, computational biologists, and clinicians, covering happy paths and edge cases (including error and high-risk states).
- Ensure AI-assisted experiences remain transparent, trustworthy, and grounded in human needs; design for citation, explainability, and support for professional judgment.
- Conduct ethnographic and user research with scientific and clinical users to surface workflows, collaboration patterns, and trust requirements.
- Prototype complex scientific workflows using vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping tools; partner with engineering and science teams to translate prototypes into production-ready specifications.
- Leverage and extend existing design systems while innovating domain-specific patterns and scientific visualizations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of design experience.
- Available online portfolio.
- Experience with visual design and prototyping tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax.
- Strong collaboration skills working with product managers, engineers, researchers, and scientists.
- Experience designing for regulated domains and high-trust user groups (scientific/clinical contexts).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying Scrum to visual or UX design processes.
- Experience with UX design of complex workflows.

- New York, NY: 155,400.00 - 210,300.00 USD annually
