Role
Staff (L6) AI Product Designer on the Gemini iOS team responsible for designing first-of-their-kind mobile interactions and conversational experiences that combine generative AI with native iOS components. The role focuses on inventing novel interaction patterns, bridging high-latency model behavior with instant-on iPhone expectations, and ensuring a polished, system-aware user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of innovative iOS experiences that enable simple, fluid conversations and journeys using generative AI.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, UX researchers, data scientists, and marketing to define information architecture and interaction strategies.
- Develop deep user understanding across geographies and audience segments to inform design decisions.
- Translate complex user insights into actionable design solutions that deliver measurable user and product value.
- Use AI tools and methods (including LLMs and vibe coding) in the design and prototyping process.
- Elevate design craft and champion user-centered design principles across the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing widely respected iOS consumer apps and OS-level integrations.
- Direct experience with iOS platform features such as Dynamic Island, Live Activities, Widgets, App Intents, and Apple Intelligence.
- Proven experience designing AI-driven conversational or agentic interfaces and using LLMs or AI tools to prototype or test solutions.
- Strong cross-functional leadership, product thinking, and the ability to influence stakeholders and deliver strategic impact.
- Mastery of design craft with polished execution and system-aware solutions.
- Adaptability and a growth mindset in rapidly changing, ambiguous environments.
- Bonus: background in motion design or sound design for eyes-busy mobile AI use cases.
Location & Eligibility
- Hybrid in-office (3x week) at one of: Mountain View, Seattle, New York.
- Open to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders) only.
Compensation & Other Info
- US base salary range: $178,000 - $265,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
- This role is at Staff (L6) level. Any offer may be conditional on a background check.
