The role requires strategic leadership, deep technical proficiency in identity/security concepts, public speaking, and cross-functional collaboration to improve the developer experience.

Job Description

Role

As a Staff Developer Advocate on the Auth0 team, you will lead developer advocacy strategy and execution to drive adoption and improve the developer experience. You will create and deliver deeply technical content, represent developer needs across product and engineering, mentor other advocates, and identify emerging trends—with particular emphasis on AI-related developer topics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a comprehensive developer advocacy strategy across channels, events, and partnerships to maximize developer engagement and adoption.
  • Cultivate and grow relationships with developers and technical leaders through online platforms and in-person/remote events (conferences, panels, meetups).
  • Create high-quality technical content including blog posts, tutorials, documentation, videos, and code samples; translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging developer-facing materials.
  • Champion developer needs inside the product unit and collaborate proactively with Product, Engineering, Developer Content, and Developer Marketing.
  • Review early documentation, SDKs, and product capabilities; provide feedback to improve developer experience and content readiness.
  • Mentor and elevate the capabilities of other developer advocates; drive cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders.
  • Monitor industry trends and developer community interests to identify content opportunities and gather feedback to inform product and content improvements.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable technical background and hands-on experience; familiarity with identity standards and best practices is a plus.
  • Experience with AI tooling and “vibe coding” (explicitly mentioned).
  • Deep understanding of architectural patterns and best practices for integrating identity and security solutions into complex, large-scale, cloud-native or distributed applications.
  • Proven track record of public speaking, thought leadership, and creating content that influences technical communities.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and content-creation skills; ability to translate complex technical concepts into simple, intuitive communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders across engineering, product, and marketing.
  • Strong analytical skills, including defining metrics, analyzing data, and deriving actionable insights to measure and refine content impact.

Nice-to-have

  • Prior experience in developer advocacy, senior technical content, or technical customer success roles.
  • Experience with authentication/authorization protocols: OAuth, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, LDAP.
  • Understanding of core application security concerns (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF).
  • Experience building web, mobile, and IoT applications incorporating both front- and back-end languages/frameworks.

Location & Compensation

  • Remote-eligible role (“#LI-Remote”). Some roles may require travel for in-person onboarding or events.
  • Annual base salary range for San Francisco Bay Area candidates: $168,000–$252,000 USD.
