Staff Product Designer, Agentic Coding
Built around AI coding agents and explicitly expects designers to use AI tools and prototypes; focused on designing agentic workflows and multi-agent interactions.
About the Role
Lead IC Product Designer for Databricks' Omnigent platform, designing end-to-end desktop and mobile experiences for fleets of AI coding agents. Combine systems thinking, hands-on prototyping, and shipping code-level design changes to make agentic workflows trustworthy, controllable, and scalable for both open-source and enterprise users.
Job Description
Role
You will be the individual-contributor design lead for Omnigent, Databricksβ platform for building, composing, governing, and sharing AI coding agents. You will define interaction patterns for how people supervise, intervene with, and recover work from fleets of agents across desktop and mobile, owning design direction and partnering closely with engineering and product.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end desktop and mobile experience for live agent sessions, from strategy and interaction models to visual polish and shipped detail.
- Design directly in the codebase for well-scoped changes and work alongside engineers to ship improvements rather than just handing off static mocks.
- Use interactive prototypes as a primary tool to explore, de-risk, and align teams on solutions for large, ambiguous problems.
- Invent the interaction language for agentic work (real-time multi-agent sessions, watch/co-drive/fork flows, human-in-the-loop approvals, status/transparency, error and recovery states).
- Define durable UX principles and interaction frameworks for agent collaboration, approvals, observability, and recovery that other teams can reuse.
- Drive cross-platform consistency with a strong, scalable design system spanning desktop and mobile.
- Ground design decisions in evidence through research instincts and real usage data.
Requirements
- Staff-level experience shipping complex, high-quality developer products and leading design direction on hard problems.
- Strong end-to-end craft in interaction design, visual/UI polish, and design-systems thinking, ideally for developer tools, AI/ML products, enterprise software, or technical users.
- Ability to work as a builder-designer: make small design changes in a codebase and use prototypes (and agents) to explore larger problems.
- Regular use of AI tools within your design and build workflow.
- Self-directed, comfortable with ambiguity, and strong at cross-functional collaboration and clear decision-making.
Nice to have
- Experience designing coding tools, IDEs, agent frameworks, or developer platforms.
- Familiarity with multi-agent systems, LLM harnesses, or governance/observability tooling.
