About the Role
Lead the vision and execution of a genomics workflow orchestration platform that unifies lab instruments, software systems, and data with AI-powered automation. Own platform strategy, APIs, pricing, and cross-functional delivery to drive adoption from early validation to broad market impact.
Job Description
Role
Staff Product Manager for a genomics workflow orchestration platform owning long-term vision, roadmap, and execution. The role focuses on building a unified orchestration layer that connects sample intake through clinical insight and embeds intelligent automation and AI across lab workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the orchestration platform vision and roadmap; prioritize across dry-lab orchestration, wet-lab automation integration, and scaling for high-volume labs.
- Translate complex domain problems into clear product direction for engineering and design.
- Define intelligent workflow automation and AI-assisted decisioning (optimized batching, predictive QC, anomaly detection, run-time recommendations).
- Design platform primitives, APIs, and integration contracts for internal teams and external partners.
- Ensure auditability, traceability, and compliance-ready AI behavior is embedded from day one.
- Work with Design to create human-centered workflows and drive clarity in interaction flows, observability, error handling, and user trust signals.
- Influence long-term architecture across engineering, data science, UX, quality, and scientific stakeholders.
- Coordinate with adjacent product teams on integration contracts and cross-product dependencies.
- Mentor other PMs in systems thinking, customer empathy, and AI-enabled product development.
Requirements
Required
- 8+ years building SaaS products, platforms, or automation systems.
- Experience shipping a product from early stages (0→1) through market validation.
- Experience with workflow engines, orchestration frameworks, or cloud platform architecture.
- Strong systems thinking and comfort with ambiguity.
- Strong product sense, UX and information architecture skills.
- Exceptional communication and narrative writing.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-team efforts and influencing architecture.
- Demonstrated fluency using AI tools in product practice (research, prototyping, narrative drafting, data exploration, vibe-coding proofs of concept).
Preferred
- Track record building platform products and integration layers used by other teams.
- Experience defining new categories or creating markets.
- Experience with outcome-based, usage-based, or value-aligned pricing models.
- Familiarity with ML/AI patterns (model lifecycle, inference, data quality).
- Domain experience in life sciences, diagnostics, lab automation, or scientific workflows is a plus.
Success Criteria (first year)
- Define a compelling platform vision and roadmap with cross-functional buy-in.
- Ship orchestration capabilities validated through customer engagement.
- Enable AI-powered workflow features that reduce manual effort.
- Establish platform primitives adopted across multiple products.
- Demonstrate AI-forward working practices for research, prototyping, and validation.
- Improve product execution through better documentation and cross-team clarity.
