About the Role
Two part-time student assistant positions to support frontend development, UI and UX design for research demonstrators in GeoAI, LLMs, Knowledge Graphs and generative AI at Leuphana Universität Lüneburg. Tasks include designing and implementing frontends, coordinating prototypes, integrating Knowledge Graph viewers, and using generative AI to support development (8–20 hours/week).

Role
Leuphana Universität Lüneburg’s Artificial Intelligence and Explainability Research Group (AIX) is hiring two student assistants (SHKs) to support frontend development, UI and UX design for current research projects. The positions are part-time (8–20 hours per week) and focus on making technical demonstrators usable, understandable and visually convincing.
Projects
- PROVIDER project: frontend presenting simulation results about resilience, vulnerabilities and risks in global supply chains.
- GeoAI platform: shared infrastructure for geospatial AI projects, visualizing georeferenced data on maps, exploring Knowledge Graphs and supporting generative-AI-based interaction.
- Central demo website: a hub for the group’s projects, demonstrators and demos.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate requirements, design ideas and prototypes within the team.
- Develop and design frontends for research projects and the central demo website.
- Use generative AI to support frontend development, with room for vibe-coding workflows.
- Develop or integrate a Knowledge Graph viewer and make Knowledge Graphs explorable via the UI.
- Critically review and further develop AI-generated code.
Requirements
- Interest in frontend development, UI and UX design.
- Knowledge of web development and programming experience in Python.
- Ability to understand, evaluate and adapt AI-generated code.
- A good sense for visual design, user guidance and understandable interfaces.
- Independent and reliable working style.
