Systems Architect

Role

We are hiring a Product/Systems Architect to define technical vision, architecture strategy, and technology roadmaps for next-generation Edge and Cloud industrial software products. The role focuses on delivering scalable, secure, and highly available SaaS and PaaS solutions while driving architecture governance and engineering excellence across global teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive long-term technical vision and architecture strategy for Edge and Cloud-based industrial software products.
• Design and deliver scalable, secure, and resilient SaaS and PaaS architectures for enterprise-grade applications.
• Own product quality attributes including scalability, performance, high availability, observability, maintainability, and operational excellence.
• Establish and enforce architectural standards, engineering best practices, technology guidelines, and reusable design patterns.
• Collaborate with platform engineering and product teams to evaluate technologies and make strategic architectural decisions.
• Conduct architecture reviews and technical governance with stakeholders to ensure consistency and solution quality.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams; promote architectural best practices and develop technical capabilities.
• Create and maintain product threat models; ensure security is embedded in the software development lifecycle and compliance with ABB Product Security Assessment (PSA) and industry standards.
• Track, prioritize, and reduce technical debt; maintain documentation of architecture decisions and design patterns.
• Evaluate and leverage modern AI technologies and AI-assisted engineering practices to improve architecture and developer productivity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in software architecture, platform engineering, and enterprise application development with experience designing large-scale software products.
• Strong expertise in cloud-native application architecture and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes; experience with OpenShift, MicroShift, and ABB Edgenius is advantageous.
• Experience with AI technologies including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Experience with Vibe Coding, AI-assisted software development, and Specification-Driven Development.
• Extensive experience designing and building SaaS applications on cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Strong expertise in C# .NET Core, microservices architecture, RESTful development, time-series and relational databases.
• Experience with frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript (desirable).
• Strong experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies (e.g., Kafka, MassTransit).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Scrum, Azure DevOps, GitHub, and modern DevOps practices.
• Exposure to industrial automation architectures, communication protocols and standards (IEC, NIST) and cybersecurity principles.
• Knowledge of industry standards and compliance frameworks (OWASP, ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR) and secure engineering practices.
• Proven experience designing architecture for multiple enterprise software products from concept through delivery and strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
