Explicitly requires vibe coding and use of AI coding assistants (GenAI) to prototype tools, automate workflows, and generate AI-assisted program artifacts.
About the Role
Technical Program Manager II, Platforms at Pinterest will lead cross-functional, infrastructure and Ads-related programs to improve developer productivity and safety using GenAI and AI-assisted workflows. The role drives roadmaps, dependency and risk management, builds dashboards and prototypes AI-first tools (vibe coding) to scale engineering practices across the company.
Job Description
Role
Technical Program Manager II on the Platforms team responsible for leading complex, cross-functional programs across Ads and Core Infrastructure to modernize engineering practices for an AI-native era. The role focuses on using GenAI and AI-assisted workflows as the default operating model to improve developer productivity, reliability, and deployment safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Use GenAI as the default operating model for program execution, producing AI-assisted drafts of program artifacts and modernizing high-toil workflows (intake triage, status synthesis, action/decision extraction, risk & dependency tracking).
- Prototype and build lightweight tools, scripts, dashboards, and workflow helpers using AI coding assistants (vibe coding) to augment decisions and simplify processes.
- Lead company-wide programs that improve coding, validation, code review, and deployment safety through AI-assisted practices.
- Drive the roadmap and operating model for AI-native engineering practices across Pinterest.
- Independently manage complex technical programs: planning, execution, dependency coordination, risk tracking, issue resolution, and delivery.
- Coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders to ensure clarity on ownership, milestones, risks, and technical dependencies.
- Build dashboards and reporting to provide visibility into progress, risks, outcomes, and execution health.
- Partner with engineering, TPMs, and business stakeholders to surface tradeoffs, unblock teams, and maintain program momentum.
Requirements
- 3+ years managing complex, cross-functional technical programs in infrastructure, platform, backend, or ads-related environments.
- Demonstrated AI-first execution mindset: experience using GenAI to accelerate planning, program operations, and stakeholder communications while applying judgment to validate and refine AI outputs.
- Workflow design and AI fluency: experience turning repeatable program work into durable, low-toil mechanisms using prompting, vibe coding, dashboards, lightweight tools, and agents where appropriate.
- Safety-by-design AI experience: familiarity with AI governance, risk assessment, sensitive data handling, model/output validation, auditability, and traceability.
- Strong technical program management fundamentals: roadmap planning, dependency management, risk tracking, and execution at scale.
- Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills; experience using metrics and dashboards to drive decisions.
- Technical fluency with infrastructure and platform concepts (distributed systems, service dependencies, reliability, APIs, automation, cloud infrastructure, developer tooling).
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, setting structure, and aligning teams with competing priorities.
Additional Notes
- This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
- The role requires in-person collaboration 1-2 times every 6 months and can be situated anywhere in the country.
- Pinterest emphasizes AI interview practices and expects candidates to articulate their approach and collaboration with AI.
