Role
Trainee Data & Information Specialist (Wissenschaftlicher Dokumentar/Informationsspezialist) for the Information | Documentation | Archive (IDA) department at rbb in Berlin/Potsdam. The program is a two-year postgraduate traineeship in cooperation with Hochschule Darmstadt, leading to the MAS “Data & Information Specialist”.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and apply file-based archival methods and work with database systems.
- Support digitization/retrodigitalization processes and data mining procedures.
- Perform formal metadata capture, content description, selection, abstracting and indexing of radio and TV programmes according to metadata rules.
- Assess quality and relevance of information and media.
- Develop retrieval techniques and strategies for internal and external information databases.
- Prepare and provide information for editorial, production and content-management systems.
- Participate in project groups (e.g., introduction and evaluation of AI tools) and independently execute and document a real information-environment project, including assessing potential AI usage.
Requirements
- University degree (Master or equivalent) obtained within the last year or to be completed in the coming months.
- Strong general knowledge and awareness of current and regional events.
- Affinity for new media and interest in technological developments in AI and content-management systems.
- Basic programming knowledge, specifically Python.
- Experience with Vibe Coding is explicitly mentioned.
Training & Duration
- Start date: 1 January 2027.
- Duration: 2 years (postgraduate vocational training in cooperation with Hochschule Darmstadt).
- The second year includes block-based theoretical training at Hochschule Darmstadt.
