UX Designer - Amazon Developer, Alexa Device Applications, Devices Experience Design

Role

Amazon Developer is hiring a UX Designer to shape the developer experience for building and submitting Alexa device applications. The role focuses on designing workflows, consoles, dashboards, and tooling that help developers test, submit, and certify apps for Alexa-enabled devices.

Team

This role sits on the Devices & Services Experience Design (DXD) team, a multidisciplinary design team working across Amazon device products (Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, Alexa app) at the intersection of design, product, and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Design user experiences for developer tools and workflows related to app testing, submission, and certification
• Create interaction designs, visual designs, wireframes, and prototypes
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and senior designers to translate requirements into intuitive experiences
• Support and conduct user research with developers to understand pain points and workflows
• Design and iterate on developer consoles, dashboards, testing interfaces, and submission portals
• Contribute to and apply design systems and patterns that scale across developer touchpoints
• Present design concepts to stakeholders and incorporate feedback
• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure high-quality implementation
• Balance developer needs with business objectives and technical constraints
• Develop AI automation tools (e.g., Figma plugins with vibe coding)

Basic Qualifications

• Experience delivering design solutions as a UX or interaction designer
• Available online portfolio
• Experience acquiring user data (usability studies, user research), and creating personas and journey maps
• Experience designing software applications, tools, or web-based products
• Understanding of technical concepts and ability to communicate with engineering teams
• Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mass-market consumer web/mobile products
• Experience collaborating with developers for implementation
• Understanding of front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JS)
• Experience designing developer-facing products, technical tools, or B2B applications
• Familiarity with app submission, review, and certification workflows (iOS App Store, Google Play)
• Experience with voice interfaces, conversational design, or IoT ecosystems
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design
• Experience with AI tools, automation, and vibe coding (e.g., Figma plugins)
