Explicitly references vibe-coding: trains PMs to use Figma AI/Make for rapid conceptual "vibe-coding" tied to design tokens and developer handoff.
About the Role
Design-systems focused UX/UI Designer to architect and scale an intelligent design library for Aon's insurance e-commerce platform, leveraging Figma, Figma AI/Make, and design tokens to bridge product concepts and developer handoff. This virtual role works CST hours and emphasizes accessible, tokenized components and AI-driven prototyping.
Job Description
Role
Aon is hiring a UX/UI Designer with deep design-systems expertise to lead the next generation of its insurance e-commerce platform. The role centers on architecting and scaling an “intelligent” design system that ties Figma, Figma AI/Make, and Design Tokens to engineering code and developer handoff. The position is virtual and will work CST zone hours (preference for candidates in CST/EST zones).
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and evolve a robust component library used across 50+ insurance e-commerce sites.
- Modify and govern Design Token architecture (color, spacing, typography) and ensure a Semantic Layer that aligns with engineering code and the global design system.
- Build and refine responsive components based on Material Design principles, ensuring strong readability and visual hierarchy.
- Lead technical priming of Figma Make and other generative tools so AI-generated layouts are system-aware and structurally sound.
- Execute the full design lifecycle from wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes with attention to information architecture and reducing user cognitive load.
- Train and enable Product Managers to use AI-assisted design tools for conceptual “vibe-coding,” ensuring outputs remain tethered to design tokens for smooth handoff.
- Produce developer-ready documentation that defines interaction states, variable logic, and responsive breakpoints mapped to Design Token architecture.
- Integrate WCAG accessibility standards and advocate for ethical, plainspoken UI patterns.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional UX/UI design experience, preferably in complex, data-driven environments (Insurance, FinTech, SaaS).
- Deep proficiency in Figma and working knowledge of Figma Make and Figma AI features.
- Expert-level use of Auto Layout, Variables, and Components in Figma.
- Proven experience managing or contributing to large-scale Design Systems and design tokenization.
- Experience with form design and information architecture.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence Product Managers and senior leadership.
- Ability to work CST zone hours (virtual role; preference for CST/EST candidates).
Preferred Skills & Traits
- Systems thinker who treats a design system as a living, automatable set of rules.
- Prompt engineering skills for predictable outputs from generative UI tools.
- Educator temperament to train non-designers on workflows and tools.
Compensation & Bonus
- Stated U.S. salary range: $85,000–$100,000 annually (range is based on a primary work location of Illinois; actual pay may vary by location and candidate factors).
- Eligible to participate in Aon’s annual incentive plan (discretionary bonus).
Benefits Summary
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) savings plan with employer contributions and employee stock purchase plan.
- Paid time off including 12 paid holidays, 15 days of paid vacation per year, and paid sick leave per local laws.
- Short-term disability and optional long-term disability coverage; life and supplemental life/AD&D insurance.
- Health savings account (HSA), flexible reimbursement accounts, adoption assistance, tuition assistance, commuter benefits.
- Employee assistance program with free counseling sessions and two Global Wellbeing Days per year.
Location & Hours
- Virtual role; preference for candidates in CST/EST zones. Role will work CST zone hours.
Equal Opportunity & Accommodations
- Aon is an equal opportunity employer and provides accommodations during application and interview processes upon request.
