Role

Vice President, Product Engineering — a senior individual contributor who blends deep technical expertise, product thinking, and AI fluency to architect scalable systems, mentor engineers, and shape the future of Oaktree’s digital platforms. The role focuses on building reliable, expressive, and continuously improving products by embedding AI into design, development, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior technical and product thought partner, translating business needs into high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Lead design and implementation of core product capabilities, owning architecture, performance, and maintainability.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, AI testing frameworks) to speed delivery, improve code quality, and support creative problem-solving.
  • Apply a product mindset: define MVPs, run experiments, iterate quickly, prioritize impact, and own discovery and roadmap planning.
  • Contribute to long-term platform architecture that enables scale, flexibility, and reusability.
  • Advocate for responsible use of AI, emphasizing transparency, validation, and ethical data practices.
  • Encourage and lead vibe coding sessions—pairing and prototyping with teams using AI tools to accelerate solutions.
  • Provide design reviews, code reviews, architecture coaching, and technical direction; assist with backlog planning and prioritization.
  • Flex into product management responsibilities as needed to align engineering efforts with business outcomes.
  • Implement modern development and release practices (CI/CD, feature flags, automated testing, AI-assisted QA) and ensure delivery aligns with technical quality and user value.
  • Champion data-driven experimentation and continuous feedback loops enhanced by AI analytics and observability tools.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • Proven success as a senior individual contributor or staff/principal engineer in enterprise or financial technology settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect technical execution with user needs and business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of modern architectures (cloud-native, microservices, data-driven systems).
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development and product tools for design, testing, and delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with modern programming languages, frameworks, and DevOps toolchains.
  • Skilled at mentoring engineers and influencing without authority; excellent communicator able to think in systems and stories.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $190,000 - $225,000.
  • Eligible for discretionary bonus incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
