VP - Sr Engineer

Role

The VP - Senior Engineer will lead and manage engineering teams within the Cards Platform to design and deliver co-branded credit card partnership programs and colleague-facing digital improvements. The role combines hands-on technical leadership, architectural decision-making and stakeholder engagement to align technical delivery with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, ensuring timelines, scope and budget adherence.
• Provide technical guidance, contribute to code and architecture decisions, and enforce engineering standards and testing practices.
• Mentor and develop team members through performance reviews, coaching and career planning.
• Oversee prioritisation and delivery of change portfolios across colleague journeys, coordinating with Digital Channels and Operations.
• Manage risks, controls and governance related to engineering delivery.
• Drive process improvement, transformation and simplification initiatives.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and senior business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Requirements

• Graduate or postgraduate qualification (posting notes preference for human resources background).
• Proven experience in stakeholder management with global leads and delivery teams.
• Hands-on experience in transformation and process simplification projects.
• Experience delivering across platforms such as Workday and Service Now.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading prioritisation and delivery of change portfolios across colleague journeys.

Highly Valued / Preferred Skills

• Domain expertise in credit cards, co-branded credit card partnership programs, and financial services technology.
• Experience implementing Agentic AI solutions and applying Vibe coding for process improvement.
• Technical proficiency in Java (Spring Boot), AWS, React.JS, event-driven architecture and data architecture.
• Hands-on leadership style with demonstrable mentoring and team development experience.
