Role

Werkstudent (student) position within BMW Group to support the redesign and modernization of an internal fault-finding software used in vehicle integration. The role combines hands-on software development with AI-assisted workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze an existing, older codebase and assess current structures.
• Participate in reorganizing and modernizing the software architecture.
• Implement new features and integrate them into the existing application.
• Identify optimization opportunities and contribute to performance/quality improvements.
• Write and execute tests to ensure software quality.
• Intensively use AI tools (explicitly GitHub Copilot) to support development tasks.
• Gain practical insights into vehicle integration processes and modern, AI-supported development workflows.

Requirements

• Enrolled student in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a comparable program.
• Solid fundamentals in software development.
• Very good knowledge of C, C++ or C#.
• Basic understanding of software architecture and working with large codebases.
• Interest in AI-assisted development, vibe coding, modular architectures and modern development tools.
• Structured, reliable and proactive working style.
• Good German and English language skills.
