An MCP server that provides free financial data from Yahoo Finance, SEC EDGAR, FRED, and CoinGecko for use in analysis workflows. It includes tools for fetching stock, filing, macroeconomic, and crypto data, plus higher-level bundled datasets for DCF, comps, and credit analysis.

Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Install Python 3.11+** — Python 3.11 or newer is required to run the server.
- **Install uv** — Install the uv package manager/runtime used to create the environment and run the server. Run: `curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh` (https://github.com/astral-sh/uv)
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):

- optional environment variables:
- `SEC_USER_AGENT`: Recommended user agent with contact information for SEC EDGAR requests. (example: `<your-name-and-contact-info>`)
- `FRED_API_KEY`: Optional API key for FRED. The server can work without it. (example: `<your-fred-api-key>`)
Note: README instructs running the server from the local mcp-server directory using uv. Optional .env support is mentioned, but the canonical MCP config is the stdio command shown in the Claude Code example.
