MCP server for the Lician Financial Data API that lets clients fetch market and company data such as stock prices, financial statements, insider trades, institutional holdings, analyst data, news, SEC filings, crypto prices, and interest rates. It supports basic access without an API key and optional authenticated access for broader and real-time data.
From the registry: Stock prices, financials, insider trades, institutional holdings for 141K+ companies
Please install the `financial-data` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Install Node.js and npm** — Node.js and npm are required to run the MCP server via npx. (https://nodejs.org/)
Optional prerequisites:
- Optional: Create a Lician API key — An API key is optional. Without it, the server works on the free tier with 100 requests/day, US market data only, and end-of-day prices. With an API key, higher tiers unlock more requests, EU data, real-time data, 13F, and SEC features. (https://lician.com/developers/signup)
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `npx`
- args: ["@lician/mcp-server"]
- optional environment variables:
- `LICIAN_API_KEY`: Optional Lician API key for paid tiers and expanded access. Omit to use the free tier. (example: `<your-api-key>`)
Note: Preferred install path is running the published package via npx. The README also shows global npm install and source build options, but they are not needed for canonical MCP client configuration.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders. After adding it, tell me how to verify the server is connected.LICIAN_API_KEYrequiredAPI key for authenticated access to Lician data; optional for free tier but required for higher tiers and broader accessOpen-source SEC EDGAR toolkit — 11 tools, 7 prompts, every filing type.
